ASSOCIATE PROFESSOR DAWN GLEESON

Dawn became a Learning and Teaching Fellow of University College in 2012. She completed a Bachelor of Science majoring in genetics and zoology, and a Diploma of Education at the University of Melbourne, before later completing her Masters in Bioethics at Monash. She taught year 11 and 12 Biology at a Melbourne high school for six years, beginning her long career as a biology educator. Her research interests include the development and implementation of curriculum materials in these fields, particularly in assisting the transition of students from high school to university. She is widely recognised for her lecturing and teaching ability, having received several awards for excellence in this space. She was the Director of First Year Biology at UniMelb for more than 20 years, and developed the VCE Biology Program, which allowed year 12 students to complete laboratory activities on campus to support their studies.
