Did you know an increasing number of students need financial support to come to UC?

UC is constantly evolving to attract a diverse range of talented students, providing first-class programs and facilities to support their journey through university. However many students struggle with the expenses associated with tertiary studies in Australia. Students from low socio-economic or Indigenous backgrounds, government schools and rural areas are most at risk of not embarking on tertiary education, and accommodation costs are a big factor for those moving away from home.

Our available funds cannot keep pace with the increasing cost of university, accommodation and wider cost-of-living pressures faced by students and their families. Our long-term aim is to have sufficient scholarship funds to enable the most deserving students to come to college regardless of their capacity to pay.

In 2023, we offered scholarships to 51 students via the UC Scholarship Program, ensuring they do not miss out on the additional supports residential colleges provide. With the expansion of University College in recent years, we are receiving a larger number of applications for financial support.

Without the generosity of our alumni and friends of the College we would not be able to support those who need our assistance. We thank all current donors and encourage anyone thinking of donating to reach out.

All financial donations go towards the UC Scholarship Program. Every contribution is appreciated, big or small, and all donations over $2 are tax deductible.

Why Donate?

There are many different ways to donate

1.

Make a donation to our annual appeal, which helps fund existing scholarships. You can make a one off donation or a regular recurring donation. Even donating as little as $5 per month on a recurring basis will assist those students needing financial support.

2.

Establish a new scholarship with specific criteria to ensure your gift is channelled to the type of student you are particularly keen to support (i.e. those from a particular location, or studying a particular degree). You could also consider leaving a gift in your Will.

3.

Donate as part of a peer group. You could gather together some fellow alumni and pool your resources to create a larger scholarship as a collective.
