Residential colleges offer a lot more than just student accommodation. But as this will be your home during your time at university, it’s important you feel comfortable with the facilities. When you live at UC, no one shares a room, so if communal living is ever getting overwhelming, you always have a private space you can retreat to.
Our rooms come fully furnished with a bed (nearly all of our rooms feature doubles), desk, chair, wardrobe, bedside table and lamp. You’ll be able to study and relax in your heated and cozy room, with unlimited Wi-Fi available in all UC buildings. Although air conditioning is generally unnecessary during the semester, we’ve got you covered with fans that you can borrow if needed. Once you settle in, you can make the room your own. Many students decorate with photos, posters, fairy lights and more!
Shared facilities are located in each heritage wing, offering easy access to everything you need. You’ll find unisex bathrooms, coin-operated laundry facilities, and kitchenettes with basic amenities like a fridge, kettle, and microwave. You’ll be sharing the bathroom with other students in your corridor, but with multiple toilets and showers in each bathroom, you won’t have to worry about long lines.
With the recent expansion of our college, we’re excited to have 190 new ensuite student rooms. All of these rooms feature double beds and ensuite bathrooms as standard, and the loft rooms offer an additional mezzanine level for storage or lounging.
We offer bed linen packs, or you can bring your own. You’ll also be able to enjoy a clean and tidy living space, as our diligent cleaning staff takes care of all common areas in the residential college several times a day. We also provide fortnightly light cleaning of student rooms, while it’s your responsibility to wash and dry your own clothes and bed linen. We can’t wait to welcome you to our vibrant and diverse community of students, where you’ll have access to all the amenities you need to make the most of your time with us.
A modern student room, located in our new wing built to Passivhaus design standards ensuring maximum comfort and energy efficiency. All of these rooms feature double beds and ensuite bathrooms as standard, and the loft rooms offer an additional mezzanine level for storage or lounging.
With an ensuite and generous floor plan, these East facing rooms overlook the beautiful McEwan Courtyard and capture the morning sun, with the West facing rooms overlooking Royal Parade, attracting the afternoon sunshine.
Located in the heart of the College, and with a spacious floor plan, most of these rooms have large windows with a north facing aspect, so tend to attract a lot of natural light throughout the day. The wing is framed by our two courtyards, so you’re guaranteed a garden view!
These beautiful heritage rooms in the original part of the college have hardwood flooring and a north-facing aspect, with big windows overlooking the spacious and lush Giblin Courtyard.
Located within easy access to the tutorial spaces, common rooms and dining hall, these rooms have large windows - those with a north-facing aspect overlook the kitchen garden and attract a lot of natural light throughout the day. The south-facing rooms have a larger floor-plan and overlook the beautifully green McEwan Courtyard.

Students studying a Masters or PhD can live in our graduate apartments. It is similar to having your own apartment, complete with a separate lounge area, full-sized bathroom, kitchenette, and communal laundry facilities.
We offer two styles of rooms: heritage rooms and ensuite rooms. There is no price difference between the two.
Heritage rooms are our standard rooms in the original wings of the College. While some feature their own bathroom, the majority require you to use the shared unisex bathrooms in the hallway.
Our more modern ensuite rooms were built in 2019 to Passivhaus design, ensuring maximum comfort and energy efficiency, and feature their own bathroom, toilet, and sink. Two thirds of our rooms are now ensuite, so there are always plenty available to new students each year.
Students are randomly allocated a room in their first year at college, although we do our best to accommodate special requests pertaining to medical conditions etc. Therefore, first year students could be in a new wing or a heritage wing. The earlier you apply, the better chance you have of securing an ensuite room. Returning senior students can submit preferences for their favourite rooms.
The bigger apartments on site are generally reserved for graduate students and feature a separate bathroom, living space, and a small kitchenette area. It's like a mini studio apartment all to yourself!
Please note: During the mid-semester break, most college students are required to move out. However, there are areas in their rooms and on site where belongings can be stored. Be sure to read our college packing list for hints on what to bring to college and what to leave behind!
All meals are prepared for students each semester, with breakfast, lunch and dinner available in the dining hall daily. Our own catering staff prepare these fresh menus daily. Hot lunches and dinners include several meat options and one vegetarian option as standard. Gluten free, vegan and other special dietary requirements can also be catered for.
